End of February very cold

It was -20 C this morning in Brasov!

County Health Dept.

The director of the Brasov County Health Dept. was just removed from function. Because we have now a new government, a new director will come. Is it possible to be Dr. Grigoriu back there?

Mina 1 Mai in February, updated

It is proper winter. Snowing, the wind blows, the road is quite full of ice and snow, so had to drive slowly. Streets are quite empty, not much activity in the village these days. the road towards the village
Had a long discussion with the head nurse, informed about the arrival of the survey team, been at the building we are renovating, met the staff and patients.
Due to the weather conditions, the work is just about the same as in December, not much can be done there and I don't expect too much, but hopefully from March, situation will change and the work will go on. I hope that by end of April this building will be finished. Sooner the better.
In the flat the water is stopped as there were some minor leaks and was leaking, so from the downstairs tap is turned off. Not too hot in the hospital, but reasonably OK.
I understand that Jim and his team is around here this week, apparently so far he has not been in the hospital yet.
I got the information (only now) that the next door neighbor, grandma's son who bought the house from grandma, had a sudden death in December. So now there lives only grandma, her 2 niece and their mother. Apparently grandma is facing hard times these days. next door house's new extension
The head nurse is determined to start building when the spring comes a long extension with corridor, toilet and 4 rooms. 2 Rooms for OT, one for storage (for her) and one for the food storage, and that would mean that the existing building where the flat is, entirely will be populated by patients downstairs, included the storage and food storage area as well. the place where to build the new extension
There are things to be discuss here, most of it with her, she has hopes, which is good, and I also hope to have together some productive meetings next month.

Karina is sick, being at the doctor, at the same time the weather got very bad, snowing and is cold. In fact is February. My mum was OK, which is good, Karina's computer seems finished as it won't start. In a short while I want to go to Mina 1 Mai, but first hope to improve the weather conditions as the roads are very slippy now.

Official survey trip in Romania is between 8-12 March.

Meeting with the head nurse

Tuesday, had a meeting with the head nurse in Mina. The meeting took place after receiving an offer from Robert Edwards, elder of the LDS church in Bucharest, offer of supporting the new building project with quite a big amount of money. Due to the cold weather the work has stopped there for a while, and when the weather conditions will improve, the work will continue.
According to the head nurse's estimates the existing sewing building will be finished probably by end of March, beginning of April. And, the idea is that in April to start the new attached building, getting materials for it, and start the actual work. This building will be the new OT room for patients with a small corridor, anad having a toilet at the end of it.
The head nurse was thankful for the charity for continuing the project, and also for the gifts from December.

Dacia Logan cheaper with 2000 Euros?

The Renault manufacturer of Dacia Logan in Romania at this moment is analysing all sorts of possibilities to cope with the economical crisis in Romania. In the past few months sales figures dropped dramatically at Dacia, and now they are considering to reducing prices considerably.
Will that mean that a brand new one will cost only 4500 Euros? Have to see that.
